STAPLE-UP

Watts Radiant, would be happy to have a rep, dealer, or the factory itself run some calcs before you start your project. In fact they would probably PREFER you get some design help before you start :)

Manufactures hate getting "underperforming" call from mis applied systems!

Only after a heat loss and design calc is completed will you know how to proceed, and what size heat source is called for.

I have used 6 gallon electric tanks on small radiant jobs. You could go as high as a 5500 watt element on a 30 amp, 240V circuit. That's about 18,700 BTU/ hr output. Although most HW tanks are not listed to be used as "boilers", per say :)

    STAPLE-UP ONIX

GOT A CUSTOMER THAT WANTS TO HEAT A 150SQ FT AREA THAT NEEDS HEAT. PLAN ON RUNNING 2 50GAL HEATERS AND STAPLE-UP UNDER 3/4" PLYWOOD / 1/4" BACKER , AND 1/2" MARBLE WITH ONIX. CAN IT BE DONE AND WHAT ABOUT LEGIONELA ?

    I'd consider...

using a wall-hung condensing boiler and a seperate indirect DHW Tank. Water heaters are simply not the best way to modulate heat for a staple-up. "Open Systems" using water heaters pose several risks of contamination of the potable water supply and Legionella. You can search the posts on this site for ample info. The other design issues are standby losses of conventional water heaters, and mixing controls for modulating the floor temps. Without proper control design, excessive temperatures can damage wood floors. With marble, there's less concern...I'd still look for a more reliable and energy-efficient approach.

WHAT ABOUT RUNNING A SEPERATE LITTLE 6GAL ELEC TO SUPPLY THE HEAT ? THAT WAY THERES NO CONTAMINATION. ZONE PUMP IT.

    Sizing

I'd recommend putting the project through a software design program, to see temperature and flow requirements. All of the radiant tubing manufacturers' have programs.

A 6g water tank will not do the job. That I can promise you.
