I could not have my boys

grow up with out a dog.

My wife saw her, Daisy, at the mall and I brought her home for mothers day.

She's an English Springer Spaniel and about 12 weeks old.

My oldest is seven and the youngest is five ( and a half )so this will be the dog they grow up with and have all those family memories with.

She's a sweet pup and allready has me around her paw. I think she has that flash bulb shut eye going on.

    You have theBEST!

That breed is the best & smartest you can get! They have an inner soul that if treated correct will be your friend and the kids without question, to the exclusion of any one or thing ! I have had and still do have one. Scout-leader-eater is his name! If there is a draw back it is the hair they make. Wow, to clip one is a real lesson in what to do with the hair!

Had one myself as a boy. Great companion. HIGHLY energetic and LOVED water. Hope you have a nice yard. As I recall they get a bit destructive if bored and unable to get rid of all their energy.

    They are misnamed...

they should be called "Springy Spaniels"; they are so full of bounce and pounce that they are amazing! Energetic? Try the Energizer bunny on steroids after drinking a couple grande cappucinos! Loveable, smart, PLAYFUL!!!!Your kids will have a blast with that pup, and give her some great excercise. She will need it. I highly recommend obedience school for these great but hyper beasts. One of my friends had one, and that dog would ALWAYS jump right into your arms and "eat your ears" until you begged for mercy. Great dogs, and good luck.

    You guys are killing me..

All of a sudden I think I am too old for this dog :)

Hey our last dog was a Foxhound that needed to be walked 24/7. Besides I got two young boys, " get out there and walk to dog " is going to be heard ALOT around our house. I am training these two to take over my chores. " Go help your mother with the groceries ", I v'e done my share.

By the way John, I don't wear pink (anymore), thats not me. But, notice how under controll the dog is ? Its the same with the kids, a firm hand.

    Bill.

boy you have that right. Scout's father Ruger, was my sons dog. Lived here for a long time! He could SPRING over a 4foot fence standing next to it! Just go up and over without a thought! I have been careful not to teach Scout that trick and have no doubt if showed just once he'd be dog catcher meat instantly! As he is loose in the yard! Scout will play ball with everyone and anyone who he shows how to. He teaches them. Has the whole neighborhood taught to throw his ball back over the fence. He pushes it out under the fence and barks for someone to throw it back!

    Woof!

Pic reminds me of Nixon the time he lifted his beagle by the ears - or is that a Japanese Springer?!?

    So, who gets shovel duty????

    Come on Dave,

that was President Johnson. President Nixon has been accused of enough--LOL

    He's a beauty, Scott.

Have you thought of K-9 training?

"NOOO-Yank on the choker". We had a dog that you'd think was being beat to death by an instructor but when he drove up the driveway she bolted for his van. It really works--STAY.

    Three!

Jamie passed away two years ago @ 15 yrs, Abbie is 15 now and Duke just turned 10. I was going to post some pics but they are huge 1800 pixel size and I have not mastered resizing.

They are great watch dogs, hyper at times but very great temperment. Duke is so laid back. We got him used from the rescue league.

    Dogs are the best

I've always had dogs in the house and always in pairs so they have company during the day when everyone is away. Man's best friend and that's no lie. Congrats. WW

    English Springer Spaniel

Ours is Oliver, and he is everyone's friend. He is going to be 3 in November. What a friend, but loves to run and play. He weights 70 lbs. and he loves to sit in your lap if he can. He never is more than one step from you. Loves kids for they play with him for hours. Probably the best dog you can have. Jane says he sheds two bushels of hair a week. But what does she know..

  • I'm glad to hear

your family has a new pup , Scott . I remember when you told us your dog passed a few years ago . Mine passed a few months later . Hard times for a while there .

She's a cutie . I trained my new pup to poop in one spot in the backyard . It's so simple but you need some patience . Gotta walk her on the leash to one spot in the yard till she has to leave a deposit . Repeat a phrase while she's in stride , mine is " go poops ! " . After a month or so I just open the door and tell him to go you know what , and he does in that one area .

Or you can do something like my neighbors - walk them past my house and let her pee on my lawn . Took me a while to figure out why there were just patches of dead grass here and there .....
