OK,OK-I know I'm going to get abused over this after reading another thread, but if I can get a hold of a Takagi water heater 1/4 of the price of a munchkin, why not use it??? I know it won't have the reset capabilities, but I figure if a Munchkin saved $30 a month and it did it for an average of 5 months a year-then i would be looking at about 10 years to break even. The Takagi has instructions in there manual for space heating, so someone believes this is a option. Why would it be so bad for space heating?? Just looking for some good answers....

It would be mostly BB with 2 small areas of radiant.0 -
But thats
just it John..its all in the controls. You're seeing price again and not looking at what all reset control can do for your comfort.
Just keep in mind that most equipment is design for worse case..and how many time do you reach worse case?If you see
it all winter long then maybe the t unit would be the way to go,heck it running all time anyway.
However if you're only seeing worse case only two weeks out
of the year..then spend the money, you'll be glad you did.

In all probability
the tankless WH will not last 10 years. Most anything made for the US market has a lifespan determined by how it's manufactured and its intended usage.0 -
I wouldn't if I was you
I represent Rinnai. I know of many Rinnai's being used as a boiler. I don't mind them on low temp systems but I do not like them at all on high temp. Rinnai's will make 180 but really intended as single pass water heating at that temp. I guess the analogy I use is: Just because a Corvette can run at 7500 rpm's doesn't mean it is happy there all the time!0
