Tankless Water Heater vs Standalone

Planning to replace old gas fired hot water boiler. One estimate is replacement for both the boiler and my standalone gas hot water heater as a more efficient method. Existing boiler is 35 years old,gas hot water heater is 15 years old. Any help appreciated.

tankless vs. indirect

From one Al to another, there is no comparison and it's a no brainer decision. If your budget allows(and it should be the only reason not to),install an indirect water heater. Short of using a modulating tankless heater, there is no more efficient way to make hot water, and lots of it.
