    Stadler

The best one I ever used was a borrowed Stadler 2 piece unit. The coil stood on end (vertically) and it spun in place on 2 rollers. Thanks for reminding me.

We like the Wirsbo uncoiler. We got it free when we bought 4000 feet of 1/2" tubing.

    Depending on the use

you may need a couple different models. For large diameter 1000 foot coils you need a pretty heavy and stout model. It needs enough base area, and weight, so it doesn't tip or follow you around when you start pulling cold 3/4" pex off the reel!

I've got a heavily modified Rehau for this application. It has wheels on one end to move heavy 1000 foot coils around the job site. It is mainly an outdoor unit. Sometimes I bolt it right onto my flatbed trailer, on large outdoor commercial jobs, to keep it in place while tugging away. I also welded stake pockets onto it to anchor it down to the ground.

For small indoor jobs a good breakdown model is much easier to carry and get through door ways and into various rooms. Generally these jobs will be smaller diameter tube and shorter coil lengths. 300 foot 1/2" coils are are most common residential coil size I use. Plenty of those uncoilers available through the radiant manufactures.

A local welder makes a nice version for plumbers. it holds two coils (red and blue) at a 45° angle. Nice bearings to spin freely with heavy coild on it. Not very portable, however. it's a two man job to move it around.

We use PAP for most of our jobs now. With 300 foot coils we just put the coil on our shoulder and walk the tube off the coil and onto the mesh. Once you get the hang of it you can even form the loop ends with your foot and unroll the entire coil single handedly. PAP is almost like rolling out extension cords. It doesn't chase you down, or curl up the remesh, like regular pex will :)
