Hey Mike,
I am in the Buffalo area, getting ready to dig the bsmt form my new house and have a Peerless, Dunkirk and a Utica on my short list. Maybe you could advise on the Peerless situation. Mind if I give you a call?
Thanks,

Looking for new equipment
We are in Buffalo, NY and we already deal with Weil-McLain, Dunkirk, and Utica Boilers. We are looking for new lines to carry and any recomendations appreciated. Peerless is OUT! so please do not give me that one....
Thanks Mike0 -
Why I'm from buffalo too!!!!Just wondering what type of system your putting in- baseboard, radiant, panel rads??? This kind of defines what boiler system you should look at.0 -
curious, why are you down on peerless?0 -
Not dissing Peerless But...
We had problems on existing units that were in houses that we did not install and when looking for help as to the condensation problem, the remedy From Peerless was to install a bypass to raise the Ret. water temp. That being said I know that the 3/4" runs were way too long thus resulting in cooler than normal ret. temps. I understand that that is the cheapest way to go, but I see alot of this problem. Design seems to take a back seat when installing a new product. I didn't mean to DAUG Peerless and I have commercial Peerless systems that work flawlessly, just not my first choice...Also, I do not like HSI at all. Spark Ignition is the way to go....I have my reasons and it is just an opinion.0 -
Dunkirk
I really like the product and the support from the manufacturer. Q90 series in very nice.0 -
Dave,
I'm looking at mostly BB, underfloor rad in kitchen and two tiled bathrooms (about 450 SF of the 2250 SF total). Maybe a panel rad in the mudroom; nice for drying wet gloves and hats. I'd like to go with the Q90 and not worry about return water temps and have full reset. I doubt that a full modulator is in the budget.

buderus /htp munchkin
How about buderus or htp munchkin both buderus and heat transfer products make modulating direct vent units .Buderus makes some great stuff there oil boiler are top notch no chamber and 3 pass and a total breez to clean completly .The munchkin by htp is a great little modulating boiler have one installed and running not one promblem and cut the gas bill in 1/2 very quite in my opion for the money .And on another note both use outside air for combustion and vent in plastics saves money on lining the chimmey in some cases peace clammyR.A. Modulator
I would at least price out a modulator-I don't know the price of a Q90, but I don't think you would pay much more for a condensor. Design fow low temps and I think you would make your money back. I have heard some pretty good stuff about the Q90 though!!!! I am designing a low temp panel rad/radiant system right now and am also trying to figure out the heat plant.0 -

Peerless
I've known Jeff Alexander for years and never once seen him flinch from great customer service and I'd be willing to stake the same claim to those from Peerless I've met during the Comfortech Roadshow. If you're having any issues, I'd suggest you go straight to the top and skip the distribution levels.
