City-based plumbers make the front page news!

The City was stonewalling her, which delayed the article by more than a month. Bracey's quoted remarks demonstrate quite clearly why this is not a user-friendly process (her remark that no City employees should be at anyone's disposal). Her quote regarding extra work for codes officials and confusion by developers was 100% backwards! It's confusion at its worst in the codes administration and tons of wasted time on our part that have created the situation.

Both she and the Mayor are lying. She was in attendance at the Council meetings where we (as a group of professional plumbing, heating and A/C contractors and businessmen) presented our concerns and offered to voluntarily serve on any committee of their chosing to help design a better process. The Mayor was made aware of our concerns and suggested corrections via e-mail and should have become aware of our concerns via direct reports from Bracey and/or Council and/or by watching the proceeding on cable public access, which carried it live and also re-ran the meetings repeatedly.

She was way off base with her remarks regarding Gene & I had a call from him this morning. Suffice it to say his quotes regarding her can't be repeated in a public forum.

I've been working with Main Street York in an attempt to form-up a similar group of professionals that would facilitate an easy 'Welcome to York' process (like the one Lancaster has as detailed in Caryn's article sidebar) and we know it can't work unless we have City officials on board who can be relied upon to be user-friendly. The delay has been that we can't locate anyone in this City's government who fits that description while, at the same time, being in a position strong enough to reign in those who are out-of-control. We had hoped Bracey might fit the bill, but she's clearly shown (via these two articles) that she would approach any prospective new business venture with the wrong attitude.
