How can I tell if I have a low water cut off?peerless boiler.

On Long Island we're required to install a LWCO on every boiler regardless of size . That's a requirement in many areas nowadays .

Follow the wiring,The LWCO will either be Taco,McDonnell-Miller or Hydrolevel

    LWCO

What state do you live in Joe? Are you worried about your system being up to code? Most low water controls on a system that new would be installed in the feed pipe coming out of the top of the boiler.

Most forced hot water boilers dont have LWC around here. Not needed unless the boiler is above the heating system.

I have read on here that it is a good idea to have one, I was just wondering if I had one or not, I know myu fill vavle will kick on if the pressure gets low.

A hot-water boiler under 400,000 btu imput is exempt of needing a low water cutoff

    You hope...

Fill valve failure is the main reason low water fuel cut off devices were invented.

Cheap insurance and peace of mind IMHO...

Any picks I can look at to see if ai have one?
  • Here's an ECT we installed

last year , the only hot water ECT I could find . The low water cutoff is in the boiler supply , below the expansion tank tee . It's the green Taco . On your boiler , you want to look for a device that might be right above the boiler and has a wire going into it .

It'd be easier for you to describe exactly how many devices are connected to the boiler with wiring , and tell us the name and model number of each .
