AIM Slimline baseboard

Thanks for the reply yea this the aluminum stuff. I need to learn more about the constant circ. stratagy. Do I understand that this is a modulating boiler? You set the temp in the boiler, and run the pump all the time? Makes sence to keep the pannel even temp. How is this on circ. life?

    Also, does it work?

I too am interested in this. Radiant baseboard was recommended to me (over radiant panel)on anothe post. However, another post said radiant baseboard might not do the job. The product is very appealing from an aesthetics point of view but if it does not heat as well as traditional aluminum fin or if it needs supplemental heat then I can't use it.

I found another web site in New Zealand that sells SlimLine. They recommend running around the entire perimeter of the room (envelop in heat they say). Got me thinking it might need a supplemental heat source. Called AIM they said the folks in New Zealand are wrong and that they ripped off AIM's product. AIM says you do heat loss calcs and design linear feet as required. Don't know who to believe. Anyone out there use this stuff with success?

    Radiant BB

I have not had luck with this product. Requires a very high water temp which defeats the purpose of outdoor reset. I removed the radiant bb product and installed Runtal. It is a much more responsive system especially if you are planning to set back the area. System also did not stay snapped together at the joints and corner pieces as it should have.

    Aluminum stuff?

Do you mean the stuff that is about 5-3/4" tall and about 15/16" wide ? I have it in 6 rooms of my house. It is quiet if you use constant circulation. I had mine on/off with a t-stat and a 185° high limit. It snap and crackled and ticked every time the t-stat cycled.

I replaced the W/M with a Viessmann 6 yrs ago. I run OD reset and constant circ. , no t-stat except for Master bedroom on zone valve @ manifold.

Most comfortable house I have ever lived in. No drafts, no temperature swing ever. Absolutely no noise , except master bed when the zone valve opens on a cold night. But it is a very comforting , reassuring sound knowing the heat is working.

My average water temp is 125-130°, coldest day of the year it may approach 160°. So I disagree with Van, if you have enough baseboard ( 240 btu pr ft @ 180° )so you need to cover the outside wall and run constant circ it is wondereful.

It looks like 1x6 pine trim so it is easy to hide. The supply and return are at the same end so it is great if you have to double back. I have two rooms over a crawl space , so it worked out good for me.
