Leak in Radiant Floor piping

Try pumping it up with lots of air and listen. If that doesn't work call a leak locator.

    Leak in Radiant Floor Piping

I have a leak in my radiant in-floor piping in the concrete slab. How can I find and fix it. I know I've got a leak because of lost pressure. I know the zone by isolating it. I've tried looking for a wet spot and using a heat gun - no luck with either. Any ideas?

    Where ya' from?

I only ask becasue I have recently purchased a tool that allows us to find those leaks.

If you are close enough, we can find it.

    Do you have a cat?

Cats are known to locate the warmest spot in the home and curl up there to sleep. Let the cat in the room with the leak (system running, of course) and wait for the cat to fall asleep on the floor. Check the floor at that spot for noises, or a larger than normal plume of heat coming up from the floor.

Sometimes I can find 'em on my hands an knees feeling for the spot where the warmth billows out and overheats the floor.

Mopping the floor will sometimes show the leak up as well. Where the floor dries first is the warmest spot and a good place to look for the leak.

Sometimes old tech is cheaper (and sometimes as good as) high tech.

    Leak

    I'm in BC, Canada.
I've tried the mop and heat gun and only the lines show up.
    The cat is useless.
    Any other ideas.

There are only two ways my cat would find a leak:

You would have to rub it with cat food, or he would make one himself.

Try jacking the heat way up some times they only leak whwn they are very hot. The cat trick always works for us. another thing is to crawl on hands and knees sweeping your hands in arcs over every sqare inch of floor to find the hot spot. Are you quite sure the leak is in the floor?
