leaking pipes

One of the steam pipes hanging from my floor in the basement has developed two holes the size of pins. When the steam kicks on, water spews from the holes (and is letting air into the system). I don't know what has caused these holes, but they're throwing the entire system out of whack. (Lots of knocking, and a radiator in my second-floor bathroon is spewing an immense amount of steam.) I'm worried something is causing undue pressure on the pipes.

What does your gauge say? Hire a pro to get that replaced and clean the system...

    pin holes

Are the pipes you speaking about steel and if so are they insulated if not that is your cause .For i have noticed that on basement that where very cold (uninsulated and drafty)with steam system who original pipe insulation was removed and never re insulated .I believe that the uninsulated pipes form more condensate in the pipe which tends to grove the bottom of the pipe usually these pin hole leaks will appear at any threaded joint like at the take offs being the pipe wall is thinner at the threaded portion .Also saggs in piping will also causepin holes and pipe banging .hope this helps peace and good luck clammy
