Caution when wiring primary pumps (hr)

install I had used a buffer tank in series with the boiler. The boiler pump flowed both the boiler and tank.

I wired the primary pump to run when any of the secondary circs called for heat, via the Taco SR box, as there are times when the buffer is charged and supplies heat without a need to fire the burner.

It wasn't until I connected my laptop with the Vision program did I see the problem.

In the "Last 10 blocking" menu the program showed a number of supply temperature conditions. Luckly my local rep, Kevin Hay was along as we are trying to sort out an intermitent and ongoing 09 issue, and caught this.

I've been told the boiler fires up and exercises ocassionally. Since I didn't use the pump circuit supplied via the boiler relay, the primary pump was not running during the exercise cycle.

Something to keep in mind when you wire the primary pump and design control logic for the system, as I wonder that other brands have excerise features built into the controls.

Sounds like this exercise feature can cause a boiler connected to a snowmelt to fire regardless of a snowmelt call. As the boiler exercises it sees a temperatures at or below 32 (freeze protection feature) and continues to run.
