Why is my sight glass so dirty?

When you flush the boiler you are only cleaning a portion of the whole heating system. You may want to try a steam clean such as Squick to clean up the system.

Why is my sight glass so dirty?
I regularly drain the furnace water and also the returns but the bottom third of my sight glass is very dirty even when the water I drain is clear. Any answers and a possible solution would be great. Thanks0 -
Pat
Does the water in the glass jump a lot it could be that it is oil on top of the boiler water, you probably need a pro to skim the boiler.Any oil and dirt on top makes it hard for the steam to break through.

Your sight glass is dirty...
Because your water is dirty...

Pat, it may be necessary
to power-flush that boiler. There is probably a considerable amount of dirt and sludge on the bottom of the boiler. Simply draining it probably won't get rid of all the dirt.
This is a job for a pro.
