I would never buy my tools at the big box .I brought this about 4 or 5 years ago and would not even know if the depo carries them or not .I either go to the local indepentant tool supply house or forget it i try not to buy any thing from large chain stores including clothing ,shoes or house wares i truely try to support the small guy even when it costs me more i don't care it is only money and you can leave it to some one but you can't take it with you when your gone .I only really use them on house jobs for quick framing and cut outs for briding and supports it's what there true usefullness comes in other wise it's real tools that use a cord .Peace and good luck clammy

    Best combos?

I'm looking at them trying to find the best and would like your input. I'm interested in the Bosch for the radio it has cd player 4 GFI outlets and a 12 VT output. So I guess my question is really for the people that have a bosch. how do you like it? what problems if any have you had.
    Any input would be nice.

    IMHO

I might buy a Bosch again if it was for use at home but Dewalt has my money as far as quality and durabilty, Talked into a Bosch while looking at DeWalts and two months later I was back buying the DeWalt, just bilt more rugged in IMHO

    On more than one occasion

the old Dewalt has taken a tumble off of a roof and still kept on working, definately up to job site punishment.

    I AM

I have had my set of milwaukee power tools going on 8 years now. If you want to see a tool that has been beat come check out mine. I have used my cordless drill for hole's as large as 6" through roof's and everything else and it keeps cranking out the power!!

    Me too

I have a Milwaukee Hole Hog I bought used in 1985. It was old then; and I have rebuilt the "transmision" once and replaced the cord several times. It still bores holes great; better than a new one I have. It's just getting broke in.
  • I agree

I brought my 1st milwaukee battery powered drill, the batteries lasted me 12 years, yes! 12 yrs!! And now I invested too much money in milwaukee tools coz I was raised with the tools in my family shop and like the way its handled, etc.... Now the batteries they have are total CRAPS !
They are not remove easily, go dead from sittin and doing nothing, becomes uncharagble less than 8 months... Keep hearing all the empty promises from the reps that there will be better batteries/tools.... Now the 28v are here, what about alll those 18v I have? Where are the replacment battieries that I'm due??

I far prefer Dewalt for cordless tool but for corded tools, I have a big mix of Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Dewalt etc. etc. etc. I carefully selected the best tool of each type for me from the varying brands. I have no problem mixing and matching corded tools but I find it best to keep one brand of cordless tools....(well....except for a few smaller Makita cordless tools that I cant't get from anybody else)

By the way, Dewalt chargers treat the batteries better than any of the others when you leave the battery in the charger all the time. Dewalt is the only one that supplies a proper long term maintanance charge.

The Dewalt Cordless batteries are used to power the Rems(Wirsbo ((I mean Uponor)) tools. This is a nice selling point if you own one or want to purchase the other. I do Like Milwaukee's corded tools.

    Come on

Seriously, cut out the bs, Dewalt is one of the crappiest tools to ever exist, it's aimed at the homeowner who wishes he had testicles. It's the "ruggedly individual" black & decker upgrade, which brings the brand from horse crap to mere horse vomit. Bosch makes great demolition hammers, but some of their other corded tools leave me wanting more. There's no other brands like Milwaukee and Mitalbo. Both will take a severe beating and come back for more. Do you really want to be the contractor using cordless tools anyway? Are we men or what?

    bosch platium 24 v

I am not a dewalt fan at all being sold at the big box store .I brought a bosch combo set a few years back small circ saw ,drill ,sawall and light i use them mostly on residental stuff all my 110 stuff is pretty dirty looking .I have had not one promblem with them and i work my power tools quite hard and except alot from them the como set has worked well for me as for real power tools it goes like this ,saw all porter calbe it's a animals drills electric milwakie for 3/8 1/2 and hole hogs good stuff but that porter calbe right angle is a beast, bosch for demo , hammer drills and sheet metal shears and nibblers metabo is the true king but a little pricey and for rechargeable panisonic impact and drill /driver they take a beating but rember re chargable stuff is not the same beast as a regular electric power tool i know in 20 years i have been through many of all of them they all have there limits peace and good luck clammy

    Milwaukee batteries...

Mike C., I had the older 18v mil. Yes those batteries did suck to put on/off the tool esp. the hatchet sawzall but I got the 28v last fall and these batteries are smooth on/off.

The plus with these batteries are the charge level indicator. I had the Bosch 24v when it came out, it was pretty nice. All the kit's now are close in quality.

Mike check out homedepot, in my flyer this week millwaukee and makita set's are at a good price. Last month I bought the milwaukee 28v portaband saw, now this is the cat's meow!

I always chuckle silently to myself when the brand new electrician (or someone like him) is struggling to cut a hole or saw something with an enemic plastic toy tool. However, I will give credit where credit is due. One electrician found a giant dead elk in the woods and cut the antlers off with a cordless sawzall.

I like Makita and Panasonic. My carpenter buddy goes through dewalt and millwaukee like they were disposable paint brushes.

The nice thing about Makita is their service center, they can rebuild any Makita tool no matter how old and their price is very reasonable.

Panasonic is a step up and their batteries have the highest amp hr rating.

    Milwaukee hatchet

    Hi all

Anyone have an opinion on the cordless hatchet recip saw?

I have used Dewalt cordless recip and hammer drill(18v). OK, you just have to keep a charged batt. I had just recieved a car charger for my Dewalts, but layed off before I could use it.

You can't beat corded tools when you have the outlet and ext. cord.

As in all things, only an opinion!

    Battery technology

Anyone tried a tool powered by the new lithium-ion batteries?
My guys get about 2 years out of the present ni-cad tools. I'm interested inknowing if lithium-ion is an improvement or a sales gimmick. Here's what "Tools of the Trade" has to say about them:

    Hi Keith,

Have you actually used Dewalt cordless tools. While I somewhat agree with you about Dewalt corded tools, I have found that a Quality corded tool manufacturer doesn't always meea an equal quality cordless line. Almost all cordless tools are a lesser duty cycle than thier corded equivilents but they definatly have their uses when used within their limitations. In many cases, I can do a quicker and BETTER job with cordless tools (but not always). I always try to use the best tool for the job. Sometimes it is a cordless tool, sometimes it is a corded tool and sometimes it is a hand tool.
