Can anyone confirm the Munchkin has a keypad and screen / menu? I understood that it did but their literature makes no mention of it.

It has a digital display, with ribbon connection, that has 4 buttons. In the installation manual there are directions to tell you what the screen means and what you are looking at and what the adjustments mean. Here is a link to the installation manual.

I have a Munchkin VWH and it has a digital display inside to set temp and show error codes.

    Booby,

    I see. thanks so much.

I guess it stows away under the boilers cover panel?

    Display

The display is shipped inside the cabinet, but it comes with extra Velcro strips so that you can attach it outside if you wish. With some homeowners it is better off under cover....

    Guy,

    Thanks.

I can forsee myself needing to make temp adjustments and will definitely want to monitor the inlet and outlet temps. But NOT before I am certain I know what I'm doing, why and how. After all, I can't call my installer back too many times!

Also, I have to say that i'm a little disappointed to know that the Munchkin's keypad and screen are stowed away under the panel. I see boilers like Lochinvar's Knight have it permanently mounted right on the face of the unit. Much nicer integration/design. It also seems to use plain english instead of code and heavy abbreviation. It seems the Munchkin's development may be a little behind in this respect. I wonder if the Munchkin's functionality is limited as well compared to others? For example, number of input and output values that can be viewed, etc.

On the other hand, I guess it's not a bad idea to have the keypad and screen stowed away under the cover where it is safer, and as you say, out of reach from those who are not familiar with it! :o).

The Munhkin is a cheap boiler, and it shows in the small details. The panel is attached to the boiler only by the ribbon cable. There are all sorts of cables and wires flopping around inside the cabinet. You can take the control panel out but it's just hanging by a thread so to speak.

what do you mean it is a cheap boiler, this is a century boiler with a very high efficiency. so before you speak bad about a product know what you are talking about instead of rambling on. Gut it.
