I looked and looked and can't find an arrow anywhere. Nor can I find anything in the destructions.

I don't think they're directional at all, except the vertical models :)

Hydronics Install - Pics and a Question

Here is our Hydronic Heating install in our new home up in good old cold Minnesota....I forgot to ask my contractor but I believe the spirovent gets rid of tiny air bubbles from the city water? The heating zones should not be impacted but the domestic hot water I assume get these once in a while????

Buderus Boiler, American Standard Air Handler - Variable Speed, High Efficiency Hot Water Coil, Amtrol H.E 80 Gal Hot Water Tank, Venmar HRV, Wirsbo Zone in Garage, basement slab.

Dual Zone with Air Handler on main level and seperate zone on upper level with a steady open manual zone to the bonus room. Also did a continuous hot water flow to fixtures.

    It is a great setup.

New consruction? Why use air handlers whiile u can use whole house hot water heat for better comfort and effecinty in cold minnsoata? Spirovent used on heating side of system, not plumbing side...

    Gee, it's dark in here ..... :)

Nice installation from what I can see! Photos just a tad dark otherwise.

The Spirovent primarily removes air from the recirculating system (continual polishing) but the introduction of the city water into the base is not only convenient for that and the ET connection, but yes, the gross free air will also be purged. If not initially, on several passes especially once heated.

I never put one in on a domestic system, not sure why I would.

Minor point and probably of no consequence, but when I install Spirovents, I always have the vent pointing in direction of flow. I suppose there is no "in" and "out" connection and it will work just fine. For some reason I always installed them with that direction... never gave it a thought one way or the other.

not real comfortable with the gas regulator indoors like that. we pipe them outside and run piping to manifold inside.

    Flow

You are correct Brad...there is a flow direction with the vent pointing in the direction of the flow.

Thanks, Paul. I wondered....So maybe then,

when so installed it will pull air INTO the system? :)

Sort of like playing a country-western song backwards:

You quit drinking, you get your wife, dog and trailer back.

It can be used on either with adjustment, and the vent is that brass nob to tyhe right of the regulator and it has to be on top
  • nice job

I'm a huge fan of these pipe clamps, the're called 'Clics' from germany. great for pex and copper, don't seem sturdy enough for iron though.

    New Installation

Just a bit quious as to why he used yellow handled valves on what appears to be the water pipework, and then used red handled valves on what apears to be the gas line, That appears to be a gas regulator before the tees and the 3 red valves, ??
