Cleaner better than TSP

It's often sold as "TSP Free" with the "free" in smaller letters underneath. (TSP is not allowed in all places because of the high phosphate content.)
MEX is especially good at cleaning soot deposits from brick/etc.

Cleaner better than TSP
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I'm from Toronto and went down to Pittsburgh last week for Dan's seminars. They were great! I'm a building owner trying to learn more about two pipe steam. I tried to get my steam contractor to come down with me to the seminar, but he said he was too busy.
Dan mentioned that there's a cleaner that is better than TSP, something called "Mex" or something like that. I have not seen it up here in Canada and I went to Home Depot and Lowes in Pittsburgh and could not find it.
What is the proper name and where do you get it?

I'll put a plug in for the folks at Rhomar water
Paul,
The folks at Rhomar Water have developed a new product just for cleaning steam systems. I don't do steam, but I use their boiler water treatment products and think they are the best. George Hunt hangs out here, and you can check out their web site, www.rhomarwater.com.

MEX
It's "better" only in that it's friendlier. Doesn't clean better.
I've seen it labeled "MEX" at the local Ace Hardware store in the painting goods section. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to google for since you end up with a bunch of Tex-Mex restaurants.

Steram boiler cleaners
Try Rhomar water, they have some new products for residential steam systems that work well. They also have a lab to test your boiler water or can sell you the test kits to do it yourself.

True,
We have tried both. MEX is not as good as TSP and in the trace quantities we use it in, no where near the polutent that things like common household bleach, ammonia or even Windex has.

Thanks to everyone responding. The local Home Depot in Toronto don't have the TSP Free (I guess phosphate is not a problem here in Toronto). I saw the TSP Free in Pittsburgh though. I just use the regular TSP.

Exactly
Yes it is actually brandnamed MEX. Try an internet search. Paint and hardwares store should have it. Mad Dog
