system 2000 boilers

it sounds like we have a top of the line boiler. not one real strong negitave comment, i am disapointed that the munchken and buderus seems to be the rave in our field. energy kinetics system 2000 is no flash in the pan, i think this home grown hot water boiler stands alone when it comes to preformance and durability.

    some pros and cons

pros.. quieter than a microwave oven, unlimited domestic hot water supply, saves 30% to 50% energy consumption over any cast iron boiler, oil fired units burn as clean or cleaner than gas, self diagnostic, most componants are standard heating equiptment, made in the USA, designed, patented and built by Americans...........cons.......softened water needed for domestic hot water, sorry can't think of any more. I have installed over 50 in the past 5 years, never a lemon , they only look like one.

    System 2000

I have several customers with them that we service and they have no problems, just took a new account that has one and it was nothing but problems for the previous contractor. If installed correctly they work great. I dont think they save the customer 30 to 50 % over another new cast boiler and the cost to the customer for installation over a standard cast boiler will take a long time to recoup the cost. Will your profit margin be higher? Are you going to stock system 2000 parts (expensive) and cover them under your service contract. Although I think they are a good system I believe there are other systems out there that are just as good or better. Just my 2 cents. RianS

Do you know a system 2000 rep? You sound like you decide what the installers sell and install? The product is only as good as the reps. We install differant systems and find we need to exchange parts, return parts or get other types of support from the reps. They have the power to get you what you need from the products......I would look into it more........

Regarding the cons, the vast majority of heat exchangers on our systems never have a problem. If there is a hard water situation install a Scale Stopper, replace the cartridge once a year, no need for a softener. The only non-stock components on our system are the manager and digital sensor. No need to stock a manager, just a $10 service board in case the manager dies. The manager itself is cheap with the return of the old one. Case studies and feedback from homeowners who have replaced fairly new cast iron boilers with ours because of a noise issue indicate that their fuel savings are as high as 45%. Any heating equipment should be set up with intruments, whether you can see the fire or not. On some boilers and furnaces opening a sight door to look at the fire will change it dramatically.
