Anyone ever use Loctite 567 pipe tread sealant

Has anyone ever used Loctite 567 thread sealant before. My uncle gave me a tube of it and says they use it in the paper mill for there stainless. Pound for pound, I think most illegal drugs are cheaper than this stuff! Will it work good on black pipe and copper threads? Or should I steer clear.

Have to look at the catlog

We've used loctite 592 thread sealant with teflon, for years. Also 277 and 638 threadlocker, which is more of an anerobic adhesive than pipe dope. 277 is aka the red sh-t and 638 is aka the green sh-t.

592 works great especially with teflon tape.

    My current favorite

a heavy equipment mechanic gave me a sample. he claims it is tthe only product that work on brass to aluminum connections on automatic transmissions.

Much higher pressure and temperatures than most hydronics! It comes in various sizes. i keep a small squeeze tube in my tool box.

  • I'd suggest

using Leak Lock on fittings that will never have to be taken apart . I've given up on quite a few Extrol 30s that became permanent fixtures when they were tightened in with Leak Lock alone . Any problems spinning a fitting out with that sealant and Teflon tape ?

    loctite 567

I've used loctite 567 for years. It works on everything from steam to diesel fuel as well as refrigeration. It's also very convenient in the small tube (ideal to keep in your tool bag.)

    Locktite 567

is formulated to prevent galling on stainless steel, good stuff. If you think this stuff is expensive check out silver goop made by Swagelok you buy it by the ounce, real silver. Silver goop is used when you have to put things together and take them apart on a regular basis. A good substitute on stainless is teflon tape and Johnsons Baby shampoo. Hot Rod, I've been useing Leak lock for over 40 years, made right here in Chi. used mainly in the refrigeration trade. I had to pipe a system that circulated trichlorethylene (sp) at -50F, we welded everything we could and used Leak-Lock on the threads no teflon. bob
