has some variable speed submersible. Ground water and irrigation is a big part of the Grundfos business.

I know a lot of water systems are switching to VS instead of large water storage towers. Pump output adjusts to the GPM load.

    Hi there everyone,

Looks like the cistern is going to work for us after all. However, laying soaker hose under the sod won't, as the ground moves too much around here. Thus, sprinklers it is for the grassy areas.

The landscaping sprinkler guru suggests a high-head pump (~50psi) at 10GPM of flow to make the sprinklers happy. Preferably, the pump would be submersible, with a low water intake, the ability to handle some small solids (i.e. whatever makes it past the gutter filters) while staying year-round in the cistern.

So far, I have identified the Zoeller D186/E4186 as one option (230VAC) vs. the smaller Zoeller 5030-005. Any other specific models you can recommend?

    Thank you, hot rod!

I have put my sprinkler guru also in touch with the SQE series. Looks like a good pump.
