Input needed on Buderus SB condensing boilers

I think its a great boiler/converter. It, being of aluminum heritage requires a slightly different set of water paramters, but not insurmountable.

Follow the manufacturers installation manual and you'll be fine.

Nefit Fasto has been making this appliance for a LONG time. It has a long track record, and the back up support are great. Good people to deal with.

EDIT: OOPppss, we use the GB, not the SB, but the company is still great, and that appliance too has been around for a long time:-)

Have a job coming up, might use the Buderus SB...

Anybody with any practical experience with these boilers? They have two return taps. One for the high temp returns, and one lower one for the low temp returns. The internal waterways are seperated with a baffle to keep the coldest return water from mixing too quickly with the hotter return water. This way the secondary and tertiary heat tubes will see the coldest water and therefore gain the greatest amount of condensing. I am just curious as to how one would pipe this dual return if they share the same common supply. If you split the supply downstream to supply one high temp tap for the high temp emmitters, and another high temp tap for supplying the hot side of a mixing device, how do you bring the two different returns back on two different return lines and still have the system in balance? I mean, is there going to be some sort of flow issues? I have the feeling I am not enunciating the perceived problem correctly, but am looking for anybody who has piped up these boilers before or perhaps some piping diagrams showing how you would pipe high and low temp emmitters to these boilers. Will have a 60,000 sq. ft. hotel that will have a mix of radiant and fan/coil units. So, I will have both high and low temp water. Want to tie in three SB310 (1,000,000BTU ea.) in a parallel primary/secondary. Will have three ST1000 water makers as well. Does Buderus offer a control similar to the Tekmar 268 where it will do three boilers with their associated boiler pumps? Any personal experiece would be appreciated.
    Warm regards from not-too-chilly Fairbanks,

    SB Boiler

Mark, I believe you are referring to the GB142, which is the wall hung, aluminum block, condensing unit. The SB series boiler is a stainless steel condensing boiler for use in mostly commercial applications. The SB615 series boiler starts at 463MBH output, The SB735 series output starts at 2,543MBH. The SB315 series is not available here in the United States.
It is suggested to contact our commercial department regarding any questions on the SB series boiler. 1-800-283-3787
