Propress Jaws

Most guys around here are using the standard copper crimp ring type fittings on anyone's pex. Mix and match everything. Not good.

Notice that Viega's fittings are all brass with a stainless steel sleeve. This is probably one of the best "system's" if not the best. There's a reason they stick with brass fittings. Something about copper ion transfer to the pex over time that will weaken the fitting and the pex at the connection point. I tend to listen to the Euro's on pex and fittings. They have been at it a lot longer than US manufacturers and as we all know,

"what you don't know will come back and bite you in the rear end."

Somebody famous said that. :)

BTW: Viega now has 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" pex and fittings in their product line. Same fitting system with the SS sleeve.

    Jaws

could you elaborate on new jaws, I am in the process of getting a compact pro press "today" and it comes with two sets of jaws 1/2,3/4 and 1" pro press plus I am getting Viega jaws 1/2,5/8,3/4 and 1" for there pex. I talked to the Viega and Ridged reps last week and since both companies are working together on this ridged does not have jaws for any one else's pex at this time.

In mass we just started using pex on domestic water and the tough part is each supply house uses a different brand or at least different name and you are not "legally" allowed to mix match, why cant they make the stuff like copper, pvc, or IPS.

    Pex

Mitch S,I'm in Mass an only buy wirsbo tubing but buy wirsbo and stadler fittings. The guys perfer the stadler crimp method but sometimes you just can't get the tool in there :( also wirsbo offers larger size tubing and you can fix a bend very easy.It was the stadler sales rep that told me you could interchange the two.We have had no problems.
