Hello
I have a one pipe steam system. The boiler has been short cycling. I have replaced the thermostat then the thermocoupler and now have cleaned the pigtail. Any help on my next step? Thanks Danny

Please explain what it is doing to make you think its short cycling, give us more info on the system, gas oil, radiation in the house, all original some been rmoved, boiler make model etc.

Bruce,
The boiler comes on when the thermostat asks for it. it comes on for about 30 seconds, shuts down for about 30 seconds, and then continues in that cycle. thanks in advance, danny

I have used steam clean in the begining of the season and the water runs clear and I drain every week. Thanks Danny

But how much bounce in the sight glass??

I would guess it bounces about 1 1/2 inches. I read about this bounce problem in narrow boilers is this what you think. Thanks Danny

Because you are talking about bounce I bypassed the low water shut off as an experiment. It seems to work. What are your opinions about adding a surge column at the cut off switch? Thanks Danny
