  • Reliable Mixing Valves

I visited a new customer this afternoon; he has some unusual equipment that I'm not used to seeing. The boiler (original) is made by "National - U.S. Radiator". The mixing valves are made by Honeywell, installed in 1958. They are connected to immersion aquastats and as the water temperature from the boiler increases, they open the return water port to keep the temperature at setpoint.

There was also an unusual B & G Airtrol fitting (see pictures).

Some info I found, they are still in business!! Although I doubt you can get a manual from them :-)

The company merged into National U.S. Radiator Corporation in 1946. The company named was changed to Natus Corporation in 1955. In 1960, the company's name was changed to Kirkeby - Natus Corporation. In 1961, the comapny's name was changed to United Ventures, Inc. In 1970, the company merged into Federated Development Company. Federated Development Company merged into Federated Natural Resources in 1983.

Old mix valves and national boilers

We see a fair amount of that equipment up here in Seattle, Stuff has been working great for 40 - 50 years +. Not much today that will last that long. Usually have to change out entire valve and motor if fails. Still use Honeywell for replacements usually. Good luck, Tim.
