The RPA has excellent training from basics to precision. No one knows it all :)

Training is available via DVD also.

There is a good lead program if you work it.

We will be bring back the REX show and this is an excellent venue to see equipment geared directly towards radiant, as well as radiant specfic speakers and seminars.

The networking at the REX show is great. By far the biggest crowd pleaser.

Hey guys, well today is my first day of business. I took the plunge and quit my cushy maufacturer rep. tech position. I am looking forward to installing again! I was a hydronic heating installer for quite a while before working for the local rep. I missed it so much that I decided to do it instead.

My question is, do you guys find that there is a big advantage to being a member of the RPA? I have massive amounts of experience in this industry so I don't really need the education, but do you find that your customers are interested in the RPA membership? Please be honest...

    Well,

As a gent told me today, my business is not located in a hotbed of radiant activity.

That being said, I receive a fair number of calls because of my membership in the RPA. I feel that it's a good investment.

    That's my opinion.

    RPA

I have received jobs after homeowners looked into the RPA site.
I also consulted on a few "botched" jobs from chilly homeowners
who found me on the site.
You may be very experienced , but many are not, and still many think
its just a simple thing to run some tubing in the floor. That is until the system
does not perform as expected. That's when the the homeowner goes to the RPA.
Once bitten twice shy. I think it is worth it, to be a member and certified. BTW, the test is easy, yet can be challenging, even for someone who has a good deal of experience.

    When your customers buy

they buy YOU Josh. They're not buying a boiler, they are buying Josh. They're not buying RPA, NCI, BPI, etc.... they are buying Josh.

If you think that a membership in ANY organization will give you a distinct advantage over a competitor, do it. But make sure it is going to grow JOSH.

But when it gets right down to it, if you don't sell yourself the memberships mean nothing.

    Wise beyond your years

    Good thaughts Mark.

A reputation sells and creates word of mouth advertising you could never buy.

A wall full of certificates looks impresive however the job you leave behind will out last the certificates.

RPA earned me over a half milion dollars and more!!

    I love the RPA,

The networking is great. Seminars and REX is great to! I went to get an education. I learned to sell radiant. I learned so much about hydronics. I have gotten jobs based on my designs over my competitors and often at a higher price then them. I point out to the client better installation practices and better design work. All of this I learned from wallies here and at the RPA. I landed a 23,000 square foot radiant project in 2003. I pointed out improvements and changes needed. Next thing you know, I get the job and design work too.

    *~/:)

I like the RPA .it has lots of opinionated free thinking individuals.:) kinda like me the reason for their opinions is basically about real time work and education research and investigation. They have some problems maybe with manufacturers buh that might be hear say.I have some consternation with the idea Buy one Fix Two Free my damm self.....

i think that the RPA has some schooling, books, reading, product offering shows, contests for various radiant jobs,...it would be something worth availing yourself of if you are near there ,Hey! Why Not? You may have to join up on like the lowest $ level to get into the tests i am not too sure, There is a school somewhere that is like a giant radiant remodeling project...it costs some hefty change buh i got to think that it would be well worth the investment in yourself. In any community there are people who support it ,others out to over throw the Power Structure:) oh wait a min ... er thats mordern hippie terminology for people who disagree strongly:) ok, forget what i said about modern hippie terminology,:) :))

    oops ;) Que? :) Huh? :)

Its been nearly 50 below for days and my brain seems to be saving all my good brain cells for summer :)

it basically is into food right now *~/:)

My customers are the best :) they are always interested in Hydronic heating:)RPA Heatinghelp HealthyHeating ,HVAC are all great ways for them to see some example of good work and good people:) I certainly hope that has given you a new perspective:)...... oops:)there is some food out there in the kitchen Screaming to be liberated Right this moment so i will have to take a brief sabbatical.

    Of course

you get out of an association what you put into it.

The RPA has member staffed committees currently working on snowmelt guidline, energy tax credits, membership, radiant cooling, labor calculators, and energy saving, among others.

We are working with various code bodies to get our standards accepted, Rewrites for our training manuals is in the works.

We have several more local chapters forming.

Some of the best and brightest minds in the hydronic industry chair and sit on these committiees.

Love to have you, come with an open mind and be willing to pitch in for the best results.

    :-(

No, seeing the work that some of the members around here get away with, it should be a crime, the RPA needs to have a way of kicking out those members that take advantage of their customers every day and give radiant heating a bad name.
If they did that I would join:-)
