Trane Vacuum Radiator Valve Repair

Hi All,
I got a lot of help here and by reading Dan's books a few years ago when I bought my new old house. Because of my education here, I was able to find a boiler man who knew how to size and replace the original 1925 boiler in my Trane Vacuum System. I am reasonably happy with the results, I've been running it at 12oz. with an 8oz. dif. The probelm now is age related. The original Trane valves have a complex bellows inside to seal the stem. Almost every one has finally broken. Is there a source for replacement seals or has someone developed a work-around? I really don't want to replace all of the valves but I'd like to quiet the house down a bit. Thanks!

Hi Paul,
You should contact Tunstall Assocites, 1-800-423-5578 or www.tunstall-inc.com. They have a lot of experience in valve repair.

Thanks Pat,
I knew some company did that kind of work because I read it here years ago but I couldn't remember or find it in a search. That's what I'll do (if my rig-job doesn't hold.) I placed 4 "O" rings on the shaft and so far it works. They squash upon themselves when the valve is open and slide back to normal when it is closed, thanks to silicone grease. I don't really expect them to last long against the steam, tho...
