TRV won't fit on the steam radiator!!
I have a large steam radiator (1-pipe) that sits inside a dormer in the upstairs bedroom. There's barely enough room on the side of the radiator for an air vent. I want to replace the air vent with a TRV, but there's not enough room between the side of the radiator and the wall.
I tried using a 1/8" street elbow to allow me to install the TRV with it jutting out toward the room, but the elbow was making the air vent gurgle and spit. I assume that means the condensate isn't draining like it should. The radiator is shimmed so it pitches toward the pipe.
Other than finding a smaller radiator, what are my options here? The TRV's I have are made by Honeywell-Braukmann. I got them at Watertown Supply in Watertown, MA.

OR
Drill and tap a new thread on the angel if the radiator. If you do be careful...0 -
street elbow
or replace the street elbow to a reguler elbow and a nipple wich will have a better flow due the larger inside diameter.

or replace the street elbow to a regular elbow and a nipple which will have a better flow due the larger inside diameter so that the condensate will drain. Or you can try a 1/8" union.
