Boiler shortcycles.Heat the water and no steam.Help

Hi. I really need a lot of help.Have a Dunkirk PSB 8D, with a Honeywell Press PA404A,The Low water is ITT PS-801-Rx2-24 and a waterfeeder universal WF-2.
I did install 2 new Gorton #1 main vents.Have a 3 story colonial home, with a one pipe system.Pressuretrol set a 0.5 and 1.0.Water column to level mark on boiler.Thermostat is T87,heatanticipator set to 1.2
The first floor has Vapormyst #6 valves, 2nd floor has same and 3rd floor has all Ds.
The boiler fires every 10 min, works for 2-3 min and no circulation of steam.Unbelievable the 3rd floor rads heats to 1/3 of the sections. The first and second floor radiators get heat if remove the valves; then some steam comes up but cool not as hot as it should be.I did remove the water probe and cleaned(it was all rust). Now there is another phenomena. When the boiler works the water column stay 2-3" from the top(If add water to fill it to the top, then like a succion the systems picks and speeds the moisture(steam) to the radiators.
It seems like the system is not pressurized. I did hired a "plumber from HD" and he adjusted the pressuretrol to 3 psi and raised the thermostat to 76* and of course the boiler heats but now my gas bill shows a record $840 for one month. Please help.Ths.

    HD

1st mistake is using a "plumber" from HD. Look under the professional tab and get a pro

    Picture?

Can you email a picture of the piping around the top of the boiler?

    Did this ever work?

Hi Ed, Wayne. Thanks for the comments. The boiler was working properly 2 yrs ago.Last year I did changed the radiators and mains vents, cause they were old and noisy(upright type).Since then have the shortcycling problem. However reading other posting I think the pressuretrol pigtail maybe clogged. The pressure gauge(0-30psi) never gets to O or 0.5.It's also missigng the glass and seems hot.
I beleive the boiler was install by a Pro, it also has the Hartford loop and 2 main drainage valves and a boiler(rear) drainage. When the boiler used to work correctly, the steam used to come fast, hot to the point that there are water trays(for humidity)in top of the radiators. Now they don't get as hot barely 1/3 of the sections are hot.Helppp.Thanks.Luis.

why does everybody think that RAISING the pressuretrol is the answer???

    Ken

When your used to HW heat and you need more btu's you turn up the HL so it just makes sense to those that don't know better. Besides if the control goes higher why not, you don't just let things ride at a minimum do ya??
