    Trap Primer

Im going to install a trap primer with a distribution unit for 2 floor drains. The manufacturer states that the DU to the trap must be at least 1/2" copper only. I want to use pex for its ease of installation. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I avoid using pex? Why? I don't see the difference or the benefit of copper.

    Thanks

    What brand....

...trap primer is it? I've never heard of such a requirement.

I always use 1/2" pvc, especially when it will be buried in the concrete.

    pex

Depends on the town.Drop a dime to the local plumbing department....But since the manufacture stated copper I would dought the town would stick their necks out.

Any emergancy drain that is connected to the waste line needs a primer. The trap will dry up with lack of use...

Agree... Have 3 and they work well

... much better solution than a trap primer, IMO. Found the product at ISH and confirmed with local inspector that it's approved.

Just wish I had found it before we poured the basement slab, we would have had floor drains then... oh well.
