Open system question

when I first installed radiant floors I would take hot water right off the domestic potable water heater and run it through the pex tubing. Then I learned of the possble health risks and started seperating the system water from the potable using flat plate heat exchangers. I was discussing this with a friend who is also an HVAC contractor. He asked me what the risks were for any bateria or legionella in the flat plate on the potable side. Hmmmmmmm. The big difference to me is water volume. There is far less volume in a flat plate than in a radiant floor system so "less" risk by proportion, however that is not the same as "no" risk. What are your thoughts on this. WW
