The Secret of Infinite Influence

Dear Radiant-eers,
Its funny how the important things in life don't usually feel important when they are happening. When I was about five years old, I started bugging my dad to help me build a go cart. He was a Plumber, and a bit of a pack rat, and we had an old motor in the workshop that could function as the heart of the project.
One day, the junk man came by to pick up our scrap. On his truck he had two wheels not enough for a go cart but just right for a mini bike. We were off and running. Dad and I built the frame from schedule 40 pipe. A friend supplied an old mo-ped seat. The finished mini bike was a bit tall for me and I remember Dad helping me balance until I throttled up and got going. What a sweet ride.
At the time, I didn't realize what an important experience it was. I doubt my dad was aware of the lasting influence of that father-son project. Looking back, I can see that project was the starting point for my love of pipe and tools and motor cycles. Working with my dad taught me about teamwork and that two heads are better than one. He taught me that its important to give someone a hand now and then.
I'm going to ask you to do a small thing. I'm going to ask you to lend a hand. Or a donate a pair of gloves. Or a boiler. Or a jacket. Or a homemade radiant work of art. Or a trip to the moon. Perhaps you have two complete sets of socket wrenches and you would be willing to give one up.
I'm asking for you to contribute to a very good cause. At the RadFest in Chantilly, VA on Wednesday, October 12th, 2005, we are having a silent auction, during the trade show, for The Lowe Fund. Ted Lowe is a great guy whose influence is radiating throughout the radiant industry. Ted he is spearheading a wonderful program that will influence the future of radiant and Radiant-eers through scholarships, education or as a cushion for Radiant-eers and their families who may need a helping hand. Check out The Lowe Fund at
http://www.radiantpanelassociation.org/i4a/forms/form.cfm?id=38&pageid=422
Then, let me know what you would like to contribute to the silent auction. It could be time, money, information or neat stuff. Contact me by calling 417.753.3998 or emailing hotrodradiant@aol.com You're welcome to include a picture or description of your donation. If you are planning to have a booth at the trade show, we can set up the auction sheet for your donated item in your booth. This will help you get traffic to your site...and give you a chance to tell the story behind your donation.
The cool thing about participating in this silent auction is you won't know the impact of your contribution. Not yet anyway. Your contribution could have an infinite influence on who knows how many people.
You just don't know how far it will go.
Thanks,
Hotrod
