Rockwell Plug Valve Raising my blood pressure.

I've got a Rockwell plug valve in a hydronic loop that is stuck in the open position. I can't budge it with big wrenches and gorillas with cheater bars. It hasn't been lubed since installation about 18 years ago.
    Anybody have a magic solution????
Why would anyone put one of those things in a hydronic loop for crying out loud?

    Rusty?

Plug valves seem to be used on big bld systems, the Rockwell guy said to think about the just static pressure of 40 stories of water above you. As to the stuck plug if it isn't rusty you should 1st try to grease it. I can be greased in the full open or full closed position. You need a high pressure grease gun with a gauge, and you need to know if the valve is cast iron or forged steel, since the gun will put out 10,000 psi and the valves have a max pressure rating and can be cracked by too much grease pressure. You can call the rockwell rep with the valve data to find out valve grease capacity in OZ. and max pressure. What we do is to bring the pressure up to 2000 PSI or so and then watch it drop to say 600 psi, this shows that the plug has lifted and the grease is moving into the pipe. If the valve doesn't turn then you find out from the manufacturer or service co. how many flats you can loosen the packing, too much and the plug comes out, not a pretty sight. If the valve is really rusted the problem is after checking for grease, that the corrosion has locked up the top. Then you clean and penetrating oil it as much as you can. If you have alot of $ in this a valve a tech from Rockwell is worth the cost.

    new valve

if you feel it is really necessary why not replace it with a new ball valve. if it was 2 1/2 " or up , i would try to repair but 2 " should be no big deal. you might pick up a few sheckles at the same time. win,win situation
