    I'v been using Wrightsoft

for about three years. It will just about do it all (loads, duct lay out, radiant, or proposals. If you are looking for a program that can do it all this is it but there is a steep learning curve and the price is a bit steap if your buying more than one modgual at a time.

    I use

The Wirsbo ADS program for radiant or cooling loads and The slant-fin program for radiators only; HVAC CalcPlus for ducted loads.

    Wrightsoft's offerings

If you're just doing heat losses many programs will suffice. Once you start doing duct design something like Right Suite with J, D and Draw can't be beat.

I've been using it for about 2 years now. I plan on going to one of their training seminars but I can do a home layout with ductwork in under an hour from start to finish.

    For heat gain,

HVAC-Calc is pretty decent. See my updated homeowner review on HVAC-Calc on my web-site. If all you're doing is calculating heat gain, or you cannot afford the pricier alternatives, this is a good start and easy-to-use.
