Condensate Damage

I've been told by a tech at a modulating boiler manufacturer that vinyl siding can and will be damaged by condensate plumes when direct venting through wall. It would discolor/fade siding. Has anyone out there experienced or heard about this? Is it truly a "worry" Thanks.
