Listen they will.

Not bad for a kid who had trouble in school. Funny how the penny falls. Congratulations Dave.

    for my current predicament

The venerable host of this site who saw fit to set me on the path what led me to today's change in my life, and me dear old Mum, who has faithfully served as my teacher while learning me English grammar rules (ugh!). She's even more stubborn than Dan(G).

A foot in the door of life - as it were. Well, two feets if you count both of em!

I received a call today from the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. Would I be interested in accepting a position as an Adjunct Professor?

The responsibilities could be easy - simply teach the existing course curriculum. Or - my choice - strike out and develop a practical course on things we face every day - as I taught last week. One - an easy course down a path well tread, or, two - blaze a new trail. I chose to blaze the new trail. They accepted. I accepted this new chapter and challenge.

Dan, I can't thank you enough for giving me the opportunities that have come my way. You have been (and continue to be) a trusted mentor, advisor and confidant for me (and so many more in our industry).

There is no more honorable profession

than to pass on the learning of a lifetime to the next generation. The financial rewards may not be as high as other pursuits but there is more to life than money. I still have fond memories of most of my teachers and mentors. I'm sure your students will have the same. You will go to your grave with a satisfaction most can only dream about. Teach well and reap your just rewards.

    You're

not exactly blameless in this mess either! Read this, read that, play the part of a woman - Twisted Sister to the end?!?

    One-a-these-days, one-a-these-days - to da moon Alice!

If I can inspire 1/10th as much as you or Siggy or Barba, I will have done well.

Life choices, toughest of pop quizzes

With all that blame to go around, good thing you left no one any wiggle room :)

Best of luck with your new mission.

If any student ever finds at least one professor that leaves a penetrating mark, then the education process will have been fruitful. I hope you'll be that professor for a great many deal of your students.

    Congrats Dave

I guess you will be trading your chefs hat for a mortar board. I've been to Stevens before a long time ago when I was young and skinny. My community college track team went there for a track meet. I will be interested to see how you organize your approach to the subject. Will the students be totally green, or will they have some experience? Congrats and good luck. WW

    Passing it On

    Wonderful News Dave!

There is something about adjunct professorships that serves better than full professorships: You keep the other foot firmly in the realities of daily practice.

We have never met, but I know I would enjoy sitting in your class. Absolutely. And I will learn plenty.

They are fortunate to have you, Dave- the school and the students, who, someday may go on to teach themselves.

    Pass it On..
