The Testo Combustion Guide written by Jim Bergman is an excellent piece of literature. It should be carefully read, learned and kept for reference on every service vehicle.

Thanks for posting it here Jim. Great piece of info!!!

    Keep it warm

Great unit I keep mine in the cab near heat and take it in FIRST! I like to pre test when a problem unit is encountered. A base line will help find and correct the problem. KUDOS to your management for leading the pack!

Give a smile away today they are priceless

    Yea

I'm guessing it's a Chinese made German product as opposed to a Bacharach American made product....

    Testo 325M additional resources

Here are some additional resources for the 325 and the Testo 330 for other that may read this post to help you get started, they are available through Testo, but I thought the PDF versions would be quicker. The quick start will help you to get the most for the 325M and the 330 it is great for a lot more than just combustion. The combustion guide will help you to understand how to use the instrument and what it is measuring.
If I can be of any additional help please contact me. Please feel free to print as many copies as you need for your company. I get them done at a Kinkos if I need them on the road. Any feedback or questions on either document would be appreciated.

Also if you download any of these documents if you would leave a reply or comment on the thread it would be cool to know who is reading it.
    Thanks

P.S It is a German instrument made by REAL Germans in Germany. How about that!

    Please watch the potshots Rudy........

It pays to know what you're saying before you say it.

I sell Testo equipment but I don't think you'll be able to find me saying anything bad about Bach products here. It's not professional or polite.

As long as you don't run over them with your truck, melt them in a fire or drop them out of an airplane, they are pretty indestuctable. Most manufacturers do not condone my drop & throw tests of their equipment but if they do not pass the test I don't recommend them. So far Testo, Bacharach and TSI have all survived my abuse.

Are Americans even American made any more??

Didn't say anything bad about the instrument....

It's just that their instruments (at least the one I saw last fall) had USA in bright orange letters (1/2" or so) on both the instrument and the case.
It didn't say "Made in" but the implication is pretty clear.
Sorry if I was inappropriate, it is just a little more than annoying....

Thanks Steve, I was tired of going to seminar after seminar with 30 minutes on combustion and 4 hours on CO. (JD's seminar excepted) The combustion guide will hopefully fill the gap for service techs. I am glad to post it.

    The USA

The USA refers to the version of the analyzer. As in language, "w.c vs metric units, etc.etc. I would imagine that Bach designates their equipment in the same manner. Domestic versions vs export, that kind of thing.

    Combustion Analyzers

Sorry, I do not think we have a 310. (Unless it is over 8 years old)Please check the back of the unit. We are only doing quick starts for new or newer products. The combustion guide from the eariler post will have a lot of useful information for you
    Thanks

    No Steve

Just out of curiosity, I checked, instuments we sell in the UK say "Made in USA",instruments we sell in Europe say "Made in USA", instruments we sell in Asia say "Made in the USA", etc, etc.....

And I'm guessing all manufacturer's analyzers do both metric and English units of measurment....

Again, I apologize, I was out of line with that crack but I would still maintain the lettering is intentionally misleading - it is an issue I am very passionate about.

As far as Jim B's tech manual, it is a great piece of literature, a classic that will, like all of his writings, have an impact on the continued complacency of this industry regarding these issues.....

If ya don't test, ya don't know....
