I recently looked at a job thats oil boiler was in bad shape a dry base builders special and the HO been spending about 500 a month and it's mild out they are using a tankless coil also. The boiler was moved into the garage and the flue runs through the wall into where the boiler originally sat off the kitchen in a laundry room .I,m not a big fan of the direct vent oil with the balanced flue system they always need to be serviced and set up is very impotant .They would like to use something that is direct vent that flue dropping down in clear view of the kitchen is a sight to see and of course fill ed with soot .There are a few small issues with a oil fired direct vent like distance from the termanation ,but here;s the real question in the long run what is going to be cheaper to operate a say buderius g115 /28 with a indirect or say a munchkin m80 with a out door reset and a indirect price wise it'sd about the same and they do already have a propane tank there for there kitchen stove also there is no heat in the garage and i would be installing a honeywell 8124 tripke aquastat on the buderus with either system using a taco sr503 with priority .The system is baseboard and a quick heat lose came up with about 60,000 btu lose i could downsize the buderus to the next smaller size but over sizing is like sex drive a hard thing to defeat the old boiler is at least 2 times over sized thanks for any input peace and good luck clammy

gas input
that tank may need to be upsized, but for sure you are gonna want the gas pipe increased for the load. but goin gas makes more sense than powervent(aarr) or direct vent(aaarrrrX2)0 -
oil or LG
I have installed a few munchkins with out any problems to date.I will say that I am biased towards using gas when ever possible, I feel that between maintenance and quiet
peformance gas is the way. now I know that oil gives more BTU's per gallon but I have yet to find a oil burner thats
has a variable burn and also better than a 92% effeciancy.
try to find a 100 lb. oil boiler...just follow manufactures
install guide very close.couple this install with a super store ultra and your customer should not have any problems
for years to come.
