Boiler fast cycle

The boiler is making heat faster than it can be given off by the emitters. Consequently the boiler is [probably] quite oversized. Oversized boilers lead directly to higher fuel bills.

Have you done a heat loss calculation of the structure? Assessed emitter output? Compared both to the boiler size? Do these things and you'll have a good idea of what is happening.

You can possibly stop some of the short-cycling by adjusting the thermostat. If the old type, adjust the anticipator towards "longer". If the new type either adjust for fewer cycles per hour or higher room temperature differential. All of these measures will result in higher temperature "swing" around the thermostat setting, but (as long as the boiler isn't hideously oversized) you should be able to get a decent balance.

    two pipe boiler, fast cycle

After boiler has been on for a while and reaches correct temp. it cycles on and off two or three times. Any ideas?

I understood that after a boiler runs for about 20 minutes, the boiler's pressure control cycles (cuts out and in)the boiler for about another 10 minutes to have a 30 minutes total heating cycle.

    how fast?

I saw this the other day a friends house, boiler would cycle about 15 seconds every 10 minutes.

    How Fast

depends on the heat thats being radiated vs the size of the boiler.Te closer theses two variables are the longer the boiler will cycle, the further apart they are the shorter thr boiler cycle and the longer the circulator will run between cycles
