The other Ebels (Bria) is shirtail relation. When the Ebels tribe immigrated to the US, one of the brothers settled in the Holland, MI area. That's her family's side of the tree. The redneck brother (my ancestor) moved North and his tribe grew roots where I am.

It should be a good game as both teams have indentical 32-1 records. Maine is rated #1 and Hope is rated #6. Hope knocked off the #2 yesterday. I hope both teams play to their potential today. When they get this far, it's a shame for the kids that one of the teams has to lose.

    Lady's finals

My niece's team, the Hope College Flying Dutch, just advanced to the final game in the NCAA Division III women's basketball championship. Her name is Linda Ebels, daughter of brother Mark (the jerky man). They play Southern Maine tomorrow at 3:00 out in The Peoples Republic of MA. Springfield I think. She's the starting center and a good looking kid, just like her uncle Steve. :) Supposed to be broadcast on CSTV whatever that is.

(Where can I buy a Flying Dutch Terrible Towel?)

I visited the website (http://www.hope.edu/pr/athletics/wbb/) and saw two Ebels' girls there.

    It's routinely

said in Maine that it is "basketball" country. That may be true, but at what competitive level. Certainly only in Maine. Nationally, Maine pails in comparison. But, at the DIII level, Maine, through USM, has shined for quite a few years on the women's side. Marble, Myles, homegrown talent rising to the the top. GO HUSKIES!!

    Hope WIns!

Gotta say congrats to the Maine kids for getting to the finals. I have a feeling after watching the game that on any given day the outcome could be reversed. It was Hope's day today.
