What tubes work with Joist Trak

I'm planning on using Joist Trak plates for an under floor application.
Does it matter what type Pex I use? Can I use any manufacturer or do I have to stick with Wirsbo?
Is there any I should stay away from? I hear Onyx needs to be hammered in.

Why use the rip off : Joist Track?
Feel free to search about this subject. Use real plates.

I give
What do you mean by 'real plates' Gary? Is this a reference to the climate track by Viega?0 -
Warranty.....
I would think there would be some issuses if you would ever have a problem such as the tubing falling out. If you stick with the same tubing as the people that made the plates then you will have a much better case if a problem were to arise....
Gary, it's time to get off the soap box and quit being such a jerk.....those of us that have watched this for awhile all know your feelings and understand that you have an axe to grind here, frankly I'm very tired of the BS!!!!! Put it to bed...
If you don't have anything good to say maybe it's better left unsaid....
This fellow asked a legit question, give him enough respect to give an anwser to his question....
Thanks!!!

Onix
does not fit in any of the aluminum transfer plates that I have come across. You really do not want to drive it in either. The OD is way to large, and you would squash the tube ID to an un acceptable size and shape.
I believe Radiant Engineering did look into a plate to fit Onix a time or two. Could be a market for that product, although a pricey combo.

Warranty Issues
If you mix and match different radiant tubing, manifolds, fittings, Joist style Tracks, there is not ONE single manufacturer that will stand behind your work if a defect occurs. Never Ever Ever
Find a line you like and stick with it...
Rick0 -
Actually, Rick
they may not stand behind it even if it is their tube and plate
As far as tube and fittings, there are ASTM & SDR standards that tube and fittings list to. If they have that # stamped into them should interchange.
That's exactly why we have these listings and manufactures spend a lot of cash to list to them.
Odiker (sp) brand clamps and tools appear in a number of manufactures product line up.
Sioux Chief has made copper pex crimp rings and manifolds for a long long time, and over the years most of the pex tube manufactures have bought from them.
Same for Precision Hydronics, Alberta t Drill, Caleffi, Oventhrop, and other manifold and fitting manufactures.
Same applies to copper tube and copper fittings.

Happens to be CANASTA PETE!!!
Prove me wrong0 -
That Makes Perfect Sense
I usually read and not post on the Wall. I have tremendous respect for most. Gary went underground and Canasta reared his ugly head. The similarities are: Hates all equipment manufacturers - Doesn't respect other Wallies. I think there is something to it. One of the Wall's great mysteries solved?

For what it's worth, ripping off a patent *is* pretty slimy.0 -
I will prove you WRONG.
Why so nasty? I'm not the guy you want. I want him too but I have no idea why you think it's me!!!!!!

We did that once....
for a former employer who inherited an abandoned "orphan". My crew of tubular installers threatend us with our lives if we ever decided to do it again. It had to be pounded in, er I mean CONVINCED in e-v-e-r-y stinkin' inch of the way. Worked OK, but nevah again...
I know Watts would like to see SOME "squish" of their tubing to maintain better thermal contact with the floor, but THAT squish MAY be a bit excessive...
ME0 -
You have been outed
who else could it be you are the nastiest person on this site! Now admit it, apologize and go away!0 -
Hide***
That's good Mr ***. As I said: It's NOT me & I can prove it. That said, let's find who this Pete guy it is. I'm not as bad as you think.
Go away?

Well, there are standards....
and there are codes...there is something known as co-mingeling:) this is where one can use the rehau tubing with the wirsbo fittings or the wirsbo tubing with the rehau fittings...a buddy of mine swears by the crimp rings from Vangaurd on wirsbo or rehau...i belive he has proven it to his satisfaction so if there was a serious shortage of wirsbo or rehau fittings i feel confident that i could go that route too. I like Stadler pipe although i must say i dont really do much staple ups, this gravity conversion we are doing will have 2400 feet of floor warming ,its my buddys job i am just kabitzing,i suggested thick plates he went for rehau plates no problem i just gotta sharpen my pencil a bit:)
we were looking for the oventhrop everything in one box deal buh it didnt happen so we will roll with telstats no sweat.... i like three kinds of tubing Wirsbo Rehau And Stadler. to date no errors or problems with any of it. in this application we are going with Wirsbo, Hepex. *~/:)0
