If the motor doesn't show up or can't be found you change the piping on the tanks. "Siamese" them together if you get my drift? Install a small recirc pump inbetween the two tanks and let it keep the second tank hot using the burner that still runs in the first tank.
Just depends on how committed you AND the customer are to getting them in "hot water" for the Holidays.

Help Needed Quickly
We are in a real tight. One of our customers has 2 A O Smith power vented hot water tanks and 1 has a bad ventor motor. We ordered the replacement assembly the middle of November and were told we would have it mid-December. Today we were told it would be after the first of January. These folks have a large contingency of family coming in for Christmas so you can imagine how well this will go over with a single 50-gallon tank in a 6,400 sq. foot house.
Does anyonw have a source for A O Smith or a part that will change out? I feel that they purchase the part from a vendor, so it may be used on other brand tanks as well.
The model number of the tank is FPSH50-236, and the part number is 183259.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless it's an OEM motor available only through the manufacturer, I would check Graingers or a motor dealer in your area. I doubt there would be any liability issues if you found an exact replacement....what's wrong with your supplier or the AOSmith rep?....this sounds like some lousy service or follow-up to me....rattle some cages and make some noise...threaten to change out the whole tank and put in someone else's tank...that usually gets some attention.

How Badly
do you need to keep the defective motor? There are electric motor rebuild repair shops that will replace burnt out windings in your motor. Turn around time is usually 1 or 2 days. Alfred0
