Anyone seen a reference for an R value of (8") adobe block?
I am trying to figue the heat loss of a house (used as an office) built with adobe blocks. The stuff looks like it could have been used in an eighteenth century barn.

Clay tile block
My reference says 8" hollow clay block = 1.85, if that is what you have.0 -
Came Across This Paper
http://www.ferncometal.com/adobe-paper.htm
It has some good information about adobe construction, and gives an R value of 0.25 per inch.
There is a surprising comparison between identical structures built of adobe and cinder blocks, with tremendously different thermal results.0 -
