Boxing in uninsulated piping in bsmt for heat???

will reduce output. Plus I seem to notice more dust being deposited on the ceiling from convection from vents. Don't remove too much insulation! You'll effect the steam. You might start condensing sooner in the risers and cause the pipes and rads to start banging upstairs.

removed some insulation from my basement steam main

to get the residual heat to radiate into a room in my basement........

Should I leave it bare and exposed as is or should I box it in with sheetrock and place vents.

rest of the main thru out bsmt is insulated with fiberglass ,including in that room.. Have about 6 feet exposed now..

Not sure if boxing in with some vents would be better or worse or make no difference

love to hear from some pro's
