Tigerloop - normal operation?

it is possible to have other minor technicalities afoot ...tiger loops unless they have a crack in the plastic would likely stay pretty much constant once you have fired the boiler a few cycles... lots of frothy air bubbles on startup ? tighten the bowl or tweak the fittings with two wrenches ....

    Tigerloop - normal operation?

I have just had a tigerloop installed. When the burner fires the bowl of the loop fills with about 1" of fuel oil and remains at this level. When the burner has not fired for an extended period of time and is not drawing oil, the oil level in the tiger loop gradually falls to below the bottom of the glass bowl. i.e. no oil is visible
Is this normal or is the oil somehow being syphoned back into the tank?

I thought the purpose of the tiger loop was both to de-aerate and provide a reservoir of oil to prevent air getting into the fuel at the burner.

This was the problem I had, air in the fuel line, and the reason my oil company suggested the tiger loop.

Thanks in advance for shedding any information on the correct operation of this device.

    Tigerloop

    Kevin,

All of the tigerloops I have installed the oil levels stay at about 3/4" to about 1" and do not draw down.
