in an aluminum boiler. Need to watch that ph very closely.

Excessive soap will attack iron and steel components. I use to use spray soap to check for air leaks on my piping. weeks later it was corroding everything.

Use with care inside or outside of you hydronics.

    Weil Mclain Ultra ?

I have a Ultra that locks out on high limit intermittently. It's for floor radiant only so I'm running it at a low temp.Anyone else experienced this problem or have any suggestions to correct. I'm running primary secondary loop piping.

    Catch it in the act

and see if it is really overheating, or a faulty sensor.

Flow restriction could cause this. Any Y strainers in the loop that could be partially plugged?

Correct size primary pump flowing the right way?

You should be able to put an ohm meter on that sensor and test it to the manufactures spec. this resistence may be listed in the manual. Compare actual temperature with sensor indicated resistence.

The code is for locked out on high limit. What will a couple of ounces of dish soap going to do?

    Good advice

I have seen how fast detergents can corrode things very quickly. Especially w/ an aluminum heat exchanger it is very wise to check the ph now, and go back at the end of the season and check it again. This is the only reservation I have with these aluminum wonders, a small mistake can cost big bucks......

The same can happen with Stainless, I know but stainless take a lot more abuse than aluminum. JMHO

    If it's high limit...

it is probably a flow problem. Any way you could post some pics so we can see how it's piped??? What happens is that the boiler modulates up rather quickly and if there isn't enough flow to get the heat away it will run up too high before it can mad. back down and then lock out. What it the high temp. set at??? try backing that down 10. that should help and you'll probably still get enough heat.
