in THE MAIN WALL
to tap the side of the pipe 1/8" and use a Gorton D radiator vent. It'll give you pretty much the same capacity as the #1. Make sure you add the vent after the last radiator runout connection.

    Where to tap a main

    My Brother has two mains on his one pipe. 40' main has gorton #2 and vents fine.Other main is 30' and has gorton #1 and vents somewhat slower. All pipe is 2" ,he would like to increase venting on slower main even though the #1 theoretically should be enough cfm . Because of space constraints I can not double the #1 nor install a #2. I found an ideal location to tap a second vent. Question?
    on 2" pipe how large of a tap can safely be used .Would you get more meat by tapping in the center side of a 90 degree elbow and what size tap or better to tap the pipe?Thanks Guys Your Great.
