Draft Hood
show the entire flue so I assume it goes directly into the chimney???
If that is the case then the draft hood is missing and either needs to be replaced or a better suggestion is to install a barometric and do a combustion test to determine correct efficiency and combustion safety (carbon monoxide reduction). Either way there needs to be a draft control on this boiler.
Contact the local distributer or factory for correct replacement.

Should there be a draft hood?
I am involved with getting an existing system up and running in an apartment building. The boiler is a Dunkirk brand installed in the 80's, equipped with an electronic ignition. I am told that Dunkirk is a brand name for Pennco. After repairing some leaks, I got the two-pipe system filled, cleaned out the flue and burners then fired it up. All of the controls were working properly, and the flue was drawing fine. My only concern is that the 6" flue was connected directly from the boiler to the chimney without a draft hood in line. I further took the jacket apart and there didn't appear to be any built in draft hood provision either. Because of some of the piping snafus by the original installer that I repaired, and me not being familiar with this brand, I am concerned that the draft hood may have been omitted in the original installation. I was wondering if any of my fellow Wallies have an experience with this brand,or any thoughts as to whether or not a draft hood should have been installed? I have attached a jpg image of the boiler as it stands now.
Thanks,

Thanks Tim
Tim, your assumption was correct about the flue going directly into the chimney, the photo shrunk during the download! Technology! I have an email out to the mfg's customer service department for further details as to what type of and where the drafthood should be located. Thank you for your expert advice in this matter, and for that matter all the advice that you post! I have learned a lot from you. amhwrite0 -
