Which combustion analyzer?

Corporately we use ECOM. Service is in Waterloo, Ontario amd Atlanta, Georgia.

During Riello orientation earlier this year I was introduced to Testo. If you live in the East I would consider this equipment.

On the West Coast I have been using Kane May whose service depots are in Richmond, BC and Portland OR. Service is second to none, hands down. Entry level is KM900 CO/P and if your work warrants it the KM9106/P Quintox is the last word in robustness and reliability. A 5% coupon is available to graduates of Viessmann BC training seminars.

If the last penny matters UEI have good serviceable equipment that is also serviced on the West Coast.

Brands vs. models vs. price vs. performance

Age old question. Which make and model should we buy this time?

Almost all manufacturer's had problems. Newer technology is evolving and it appears the "sensor poisoning" issues have been reduced to some extent with better designs.

Reliability also seems to be enhanced.

Our experience is that price has no bearing on quality.

Please tell us what you use, how it works, the make and model and cost.

We are sick over what we've spent on combustion analyzers in the past two years, given the fact that only one of five now works!

    Repair ?

I used the ole "dumbell" and maintained it over many years. It has its limits but it is repairable and works well. New electronic stuff is as you say, shaky at best, works wonders when it does but lets you down when least expected.
The "dumbell" sold some gas frunace replacements as it showed Co2 in the heat outlets. also if the combustion chamber was sprayed with a salt solution with a hypodermic syringe, the heat vents would show bight orange if the combustion chamber was compromised, useing the Ole halogen heat refridgerant detector. Both are reliable and inexpensive compared to the high tech stuff. I wonder if the water manometer and other basic metering systems are not always better. At least they stay in calibration unless the operator nut is loose!

Gordo and I like our Testo analyzers

he has two 325-M units and I have two 325-1 units. From where you are in Joisey, you could easily drop them off at Testo's shop to be serviced.

    Right! but...

in four weeks I'll no longer live in NJ. We're moving to VT. No matter, we'll be back here often enough to ne in the 'hood, seeing the kids and grand kis.

I'm leaning towards Testo as well.
