Correct pump for Phase III TR-60

Taco 007 should have enough capacity to deliver the maximum flow rate required for a 150,000 BTU boiler at 15 gpm when using 1 ¼ “ piping. However, that is a vague statement and may have to be revisited when I learn more about the system dynamics.

Correct pump for Phase III TR-60?

The boiler piping to and from our TR-60 is 1 1/4". However, the pump that is present in the Phase III loop is a 007 Taco. I was told by someone that that pump is not allowing the TR-60 to recover as quickly.
What size pump would you recommend? The boiler is running currently at 150,000 BTU, but in the dead of winter, it will probably have to have high fire turned on to increase it to 300,000 BTU

    Pump selection

should be based upon the recommendations of the tank manufacturer. You also need to balance the indirect's capactity and the needed DHW production.

Take into account the piping and fitting losses, plus the head loss of the indirect (low on a Phase III). Also, look at the desired delta T you want, then size the pump. With an input range of 150K to 300K, you can make a boatload of hot water. The right pump size will ensure long-term performance of the system.

the 60, w/ 50 thru 500 mbh (gross) boiler, @ 13 gpm. Figure 3' head loss for the heater. @ 150 mbh input, 1st hour gallon rating is 319 @ 115*, based on 200* boiler water & domestic priority.
