and take a gander inside. Perhaps something got pulled in during install. Call 1 800 621-9419 and follow the directions for tech service. I agree that it is probably vent related. You might disassemble the vent, carefully inspect and re-install. Disconnect the vent and see if it quiets down. Also, removing the vent motor is a snap. remove the bellows, the two obvious screws, pull the wire off and it is in your hands. If you do this, be very careful when reassembling that you make sure the tongue in the back is engaged prior to putting the screws back in. They are typically very quiet.

    Loud Rinnai

I installed a Rinnai tankless water heater to try out before recommending to others. It seems rather loud to me, it's by far the loudest piece of equipment in our house (about 4 or 5 times louder than the fridge). Fortunately it's in our utility room, so it's not a big issue for us, but I'm not sure I would recommend these to other customers if they are really that noisy. I'm wondering if this is normal? The sound appears to be the burner fan. This is the indoor sealed unit, and is two years old and was noisy from day one. Thanks

you may want to check the vent connections. our co. installed 4 of these units in identicle (sp?)condos. got called to check noise from 1 unit. found that vent pipe was not fully seated at one joint, corrected, and noise was gone. rob

    You have something wrong!

I have never seen a loud Rennai. Something IS wrong with it. Call Rennai and try out their customer service department.

joliver@rinnai.us Jeff should be able to help. And Rob is exactly right. The venting is usually the culprit with noise issues.
